Meet The Team

From childhood co-stars to co-founders, Lauren and Joanna’s lifelong friendship began on stage in local youth shows. That early experience sparked a shared vision: to create an inclusive, nurturing environment where young people are kept safe, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential.

The magic of theatre didn't stop there—it literally built their family, as Joanna also met her husband and sisters-in-law, Sophie and Chloe, through performing! At Rhythm and Roots, we are passionate about extending that same warm, family-like culture and lifelong connection to every single child.

Our founding team brings a wealth of talent, passion, and expertise to our students. Lauren boasts extensive experience both on stage and behind the scenes in youth theatre, while Joanna combines years of production experience with her background as a trained teacher and a Master’s degree in Child Protection, ensuring safeguarding is always our top priority. Joining us are Sophie, a secondary school teacher who heads up a performing arts department and performs with BMTC, and Chloe, who brings a broad range of stage experience along with a dedicated background in working with primary school children. Together, we are thrilled to share our passion for theatre and guide the next generation of performers.
