Rhythm and Roots Performing Arts is a dedicated charity providing an affordable, inclusive opportunity for children of all abilities to shine. Our show format ensures every child takes centre stage and enjoys their moment in the spotlight.
At Rhythm and Roots, we’re redefining performance opportunities for local youth. Unlike traditional stage schools, we operate on an inclusive, non-auditioned basis where every single participant gets a central role in our public annual theatre productions. To ensure no child is excluded due to cost, we keep our session fees low and rely on charitable donations. We use the performing arts not just to create great shows, but to nurture self-esteem, teamwork, and creative expression in every young person who walks through our doors.
Our Annual Season & Themed Showcases
Our performing arts season runs each year from May through October. Unlike traditional stage schools that produce fixed plays like Annie or Matilda—where only one person gets to be the "star"—we do things differently. Every year features an exciting themed production! This creative structure allows Joanna and Lauren to build the script, songs, and choreography directly around our group, guaranteeing that every single child gets a central role and a chance to shine. We wrap up our season with a brilliant, high-energy showcase in a local theatre during the October Half Term
Our Charity Mission
We are a non-profit youth performing arts organisation based in Croydon, Crawley and surrounding areas currently registering as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO). Founded by Joanna and Lauren, our charity was built on a simple belief: every child deserves equal access to the arts, regardless of their background or ability.
Unlike traditional stage schools, we operate on a 100% inclusive basis. Every young person aged 6 to 21 who joins us automatically secures a place and a central role in our annual production.
